Don't have a gathering big enough for the whole lower floor? Don't worry! For small gatherings, the back section of the main floor can be reserved as well.

Please speak with Bean Wiggenaut to set up a reservation. Rooms can be reserved by the hour for short gatherings or for by the half-day for longer gatherings. First drink is included for all attendees, or catering may be included as part of the rental fee (catering only available for gatherings of at least five attendees).

Appearance (Furcadia Description): He stands roughly 5' 10" tall, although you can't be sure as you look at him. His form is wrapped in a dark grey cloak, and underneath his clothes are ashen, trimmed with crimson. He wears worn and scarred leather gloves of an indeterminate hue, so long have they seen daily use. His feet likewise wrapped inside boots that mark him as one who has traveled long roads for many years, so worn and faded are they from use. If you notice him in the right direction, or perhaps just from the corner of your eye, he appears to be carrying a sheathed sword on his back, with a red tassel on its pommel; if you try to see it, however, you'll find it must have been just an idle fancy of your mind, for surely you can see no weapon on him. Of his face you can see little, under his grey hood, except for his eyes and mouth, and a short brush-like beard. His eyes, the same deep crimson as his hair, have a piercing look to them, as if they can see through even the miry shadows of the mind. His mouth is twisted into a crooked smile, for he possesses a secret that only he knows...

    Description: Also based off of the kriss design, with blades ranging from 1" to 4" long. Weight balanced for stability of flight, the handles are merely string wound around the tang to provide a good grip. They may or may not have red tassels at the end. He also doesn't wear these openly, but can be assumed to have several on his person at all times.

Re typically will also project perceptual illusions other than visual to enhance his illusions. In particular, because he's usually around creatures who use hearing and scent, he isn't likely to overlook the expected cues. He often takes advantage of "what minds expect to see" in order to provide just enough illusion that the audience fills in the rest. This is why a mind must usually be actively working against his illusions in order to be unaffected by them. Furthermore, because he is not affected by emotion, his concentration is not affected by many of the external factors that might otherwise hamper the expenditure of energy.

Jitterbugge Café / Café Hours

The Jitterbugge Café is pleased to welcome patrons from sunrise through midnight, seven days a week.

[OOC: The café is considered closed and is ICly locked from 12am through 6am FST each day. Characters who try to gain entry while it is closed will find the doors locked, double-locked, and triple-locked, and the place inaccessible. If you need to play a scene there outside these hours but have it considered to be earlier (due to time zones, etc), that is fine so long as all parties know it is time-offset.

If you're going to start trouble, you can ICly assume either Bean or Jo would, at the first sign of trouble, call for a guard, who can be NPCed if nobody is online/available. You can also expect sharp things/boiling liquids thrown at your character if he/she refuses to go along with the guards. Bean and Jo might not be very strong, but they protect their stuff with a hive mentality. If I'm online, give me a whisper so I know what's up. Otherwise, please drop me a line on the forum. Thank you.]

Jitterbugge Café / ARCHIVED: Coupons!

Jo the NPC cricket barista would be seen about town, handing out small 2"x3.5" cards (recycled, acid-free, lead-free paper) which say "This coupon good for 50% off one order (for orders up to 10 silver) at the Jitterbugge Cafe. Expires 30th May [this year]" in an attractive font. Seems someone's trying to move inventory and attract new customers before the move.

Located in Eileadora's bustling main street, just across from the tavern, the Jitterbugge Café is causing quite a buzz among the locals. Brewing coffee grown by local farmers, acquired through fair trade practices, it is becoming a place for laborers and shopkeepers alike to gather for a warm morning pick-me-up, an afternoon re-energizer, or even an after-dinner invigorator to keep the night life stirring.


Staff
  • Head Barista: Bean Wiggenaut
  • Assistant Barista: Jo [NPC] - if Bean isn't there, assume Jo is behind the counter. Jo is also a cricket-bugge, and also gender-indeterminate. And also hopelessly addicted to coffee.
  • Other staff: Various other bugges, all apparently relatives of Bean who've used family obligation to get a job. There are usually a couple of them milling around the store, more down in the basement.

* Render used to be feline in Furcadia because when he was created, the human option was not available. In other contexts, he is typically human. Since there was a large hiatus in playing him, I've decided just to say somewhere on his journey he regained human form.
 
Alignment: not altogether on anybody's side, since nobody's altogether on his side. But he has a vague instinct to seek out loyal service to a master, and despises what is evil.
Profession: Wanderer/Sword-sometimes-hired

** Render has a vast potential to use his ice abilities, but it is of a reflexive/intuitive nature, not something he has practiced. He is not an elemental, but his link with Iceblade is intrinsic to his being, and so his abilities are just like any other physical part of him. So in terms of using "magic" in the usual sense, he's at a low, because he doesn't know how to use it. But in terms of facility and competence with using his ice powers, he's at a high.

Details:
Weapons
  • Ice Blade: A sword whose blade is icy cold to the touch. Its origins are as mysterious as those of Render himself, but he seems to have some connection to it, as he can at times use it to make a space colder. It is breakable, but only with tremendous force. At all times it is surrounded by an icy breeze which can increase or decrease in intensity as Render's mood changes. It is a hand-and-a-half sword, so Render can and will use it one-handed if necessary. The blade itself is four feet long, making the whole sword about five feet. It weighs approximately 4 lbs, having a blade two and a half inches wide. Also note that because of the envelope of cold air around it, friction affects it less, thus making it a small bit easier to swing. The handle is about 10 inches long, decorated with silver and having a silver pommel. The hand guard is also silver, with obsidian stones set on either side. On the handle, a slightly faded inscription is visible, written in silver, though worn down and scratched a bit.
  • Short Dagger: Render's backup weapon. Its blade is about a foot long, so he usually keeps it concealed. It does not have the cold-manipulating abilities of the ice blade, but because he keeps it so close it is usually cold as well. It is made of a special steel that is not as affected by changes in temperature as other steel, making it less vulnerable to brittleness. The blade is double edged and straight. Don't expect him to use it often, though.

Armor
Render's armor protects his chest, shins, the tops of his feet, and the outside of his left forearm. The metal is breakable, but as it's reinforced plate steel, it'll take force to get through it. The straps which fasten the armor are made of toughened leather reinforced by an iron core, which means it'll be difficult to separate him from his armor against his will.
 
Abilities
Render possesses the ability to create and manipulate ice, based on his connection with Iceblade. For a a list of some of his abilities, see here.

Appearance
You see a tall figure, robed and armored in black, most of his face obscured by a black mask. His clothing is likewise black, a strange mark upon his left sleeve. His skin is an icy pallid color, and his eyes are twin spheres of ice, seeming to look past what they see. At his right hip is slung a sword in its sheath, the handle inlaid with silver, twin obsidian stones set in the ends of its crossbar. A strange cloud of winter cold seems to dwell about the man, as if coming from within him; or perhaps it comes more from the sword. The two are never parted, and so it would be difficult to tell.

Description:  A friendly-looking fellow of about thirty-five, his face almost always smiling in a good-natured way. His fur is all of white, save for a few brown patches on his arms and neck, a large spot over his right eye, and of course his short-cropped brown hair. He carries a lute on his back in its case, which seems also to have a compartment for carrying a flute and perhaps other instruments. One would guess that this fellow is a bard of some sort. He carries no visible weapon, save his incredibly infectious smile.
