Appearance (Furcadia Description): Undoubtedly Elven, the man had the angular facial structure, tall stature and pointed ears to prove it. Complexion was comparable to undead- sickly, lacking color and bordering on translucent, however the presence of subtle blushing where skin wore thin said otherwise. He wore his white hair quite short, keeping out of eyes that appeared blind- solid in color and milky with no definable pupil or iris, yet he clearly could see. A sharp nose centers his face, just below it a set of thin lips always curled downward into a subtle sneer, as if everyone and everything disgusted or disappointed him. Often dressed in brown and ocean-tone leathers, bare arms reveal a lean yet physically fit man who has likely done plenty of manual labor throughout his life, hands calloused from work in a dockyard.

    Anduen's appears more cosmetic than practical.

    Description: A rather personal item that he keeps hidden on his person and is rarely without. He's rather private about it, so what exactly it might be remains to be seen.

Natural Abilities
  • Ability: Chameleon
    Description: Anduen possesses the ability to alter the appearance of his skin to his benefit. While this is a strength in many ways, it isn't necessarily one available at all times. Like many animals in the wild, his physical alteration is typically brought on by intense emotion, typically stress or fear. His kind all possess this ability, and while it can be harnessed to a degree, it is not something that can be 100% mastered.

    His skin can alter from it's pale form to a far darker, murkier form that can conceal him if he is in the dark.
  • Ability: Elemental Magic
    Description: Or rather, more specifically storm and electrical magic. Anduen himself does not actively practice it, however he, like the rest of his kind, are capable and carry the potential in their blood.
  • Ability: Snake Magic
    Description: Like the above, Anduen does not necessarily actively practice snake magic, however unlike the above he has and does more often than electrical/storm magic. Snake magic (in his case) is a means of communing with serpents, befriending them, keeping them as thralls, etc.
Learned Abilities:
  • Ability: Snake Magic (cont)
    Description: While it's a natural ability to his kin, they must all learn and study it to truly master it. Anduen is not necessarily an elite master of snake magic, but he is quite capable and is by no means an amateur.
  • Ability: Unscrupulous Actions
    Description: While maormer are known to be pirates and raiders by non-maormeri people, they aren't ALL like that. Anduen unfortunately is. He's quite capable of pinching things from people. He's cautious enough to keep his mouth shut about his less legal activities, as well. Fencing, laundering, pick-pocketing and in general stealing are all within his abilities and he's plenty capable.

Rumor Mill / Cloth, Wurm, and a closure of shop (pixie'd!)

Shortly after a visit to the newly reopened Thoth's, the lapidist would be seen leaving the shop and taking a walk. Later, he would be seen returning to his shop. This would be the last time the young man would be seen.

Come morning the next day, the shop would still be closed (as though it had never reopened the previous day) and instead a slender, shimmery reptile would be seen laying in the outdoor foyer just outside the door. Horned, it resembles a dragon but hasn't any wings, instead in their place two old yet tender looking scars.

The beast would be seen laying atop a black cloak, and should the beast wander away and the cloak be investigated, beneath it is a pair of large boots, trousers, a lovely brocade shirt, a shard of white opal wire-wrapped and on round leather cordage, and an unmistakeable 'M' pin in gold.

The creature is skittish and shy, like a long-time street dog who has had a few too many unpleasant run-ins with humans. It typically shies away and wanders off if approached. There is an intelligence to it's sad looking, dark eyes, yet it does not seem to readily vocalize or make effort to communicate with others.

Rumor Mill / An upset of dust

The Jeweler's shop located in the Merchant's Quarter has certainly seen better days. Seemingly left to gather dust, for the past couple of days evidence has been surfacing of tidying within and out.

During the wee hours of mor-night, doors and windows have been being cracked to encourage the dust and must to work it's way out. Windows have been cleaned, the door handles have been polished, and peeking in some may notice the paperwork has been re-organized and the stock has been put out once more. Despite this, it does not appear to be open quite yet, though that of course can't stop anyone wanting to visit- it IS being left unlocked during the day. Perhaps it's owner simply isn't ready to do sales just yet.

Speaking of the owner, he hasn't been spotted, yet evidence of his presence has. Little things, ones that anyone familiar with him would certainly recognize as his or coming from him. Fresh flowers of an edible variety are being kept in a planter, some strange looking materials likely used for armor and jewelry crafting (is that a gigantic bug shell?!) is on one of the work desks, and a new sack of fungus media (with a handsome oyster culture already established and looking quite happy) is nearby the stairwell.

If anyone is in need of contacting the owner, perhaps now would be the best time to write a letter or stop in for a visit.

    The atmosphere of the shop could only be described as both earthy and pure. Well lit to showcase the vibrant colors of many ores, crystals and minerals scattered throughout the establishment on display, the lighting also aids in showing off the varying degrees of sheen on finished pieces of jewelry. To those sensitive, some crystals may even hum and tinkle harmoniously among one another behind their protective cases.

    While all paperwork throughout the shop is tidy and stacked, almost everything else is chaotically scattered about, yet arranged in such a way that it could easily be seen as 'aesthetically pleasing' and 'color coordinated'. A clever move on the shopkeeper's part.

    While lit candles flicker in every corner and on every surface permitting, two small chandeliers dangle from the ceiling, cut crystals dangling from delicate chains twinkle beautifully with each sway or turn of their handsome forms.

    A handful of scents drift lazily through the air, hints of rainfall, wet earth and lavender mingling with the green of herb. Faintly and more toward the downward staircase at the northernmost corner one might detect tinder, metal and ash.

    Rumor Mill / The Meat of The Matter

    There have been strange things going on in the privacy and veil of night. Within a small wooded area northwest a ways from the detective's home there is a series of tall, pillar-like stones in a loose and imperfect circle atop a patch of dirt and pebbles. Come nightfall these have been becoming engulfed in a bizarre substance, now and then. Odor foul like raw sewage, polluted water and rancid carcass, the stones have acquired ugly, oily brown stains along their surfaces from top to bottom in uneven patterns.

    Whatever it is that covers the stones at night, come dawn it begins to wither and retreat as if appalled by the sun's light. Whatever remains dries out and turns black, decaying into a wet, filmy mess before disappearing entirely. In it's fresh state, it can only be described to resemble meat, sinew and offal, it emits the offensive smell mentioned above and seems to have a mind of it's own.

    Slow moving and ever undulating as if containing hearts in several different places, it emits a series of noises, depending on it's position, shape, movement and size. Anywhere from the wet, mulchy rustle of decaying leaves to the sound of sloshing, dirty dish water, it is hardly pleasant and frequently pops and snaps as it's mucous coat dries and sticks to things before relubricating itself.

    Again, these seem to only appear at night, and generally hide or maybe even die come day. The best way to describe what the formations resemble is something akin to a web or net. Riddled in taut-stretched visceral holes, suspended among the stone pillars almost like an artificial tree canopy. Wherever the flesh ends, gently throbbing black or red veins root and anchor themselves to their chosen surface, seeking out the pores in the stone and any indent or crack. Whatever plant life this substance has touched seems to wither and die in a strong rejection.

    It does not appear to be dangerous, or even harmful to sapient creatures, but there are a few odd, meat putty-like piles nearby, generally between the size of small bird or large rat and loosely resembling such in silhouette, though other than these qualities, look nothing of the sort. Were these once animals, that transformed upon curiously nibbling the bizarre, living structures? The combination of vulgar visuals, offensive odor and an overall uneasiness it likely provokes, it is not pleasant in the slightest.

    Thankfully it only seems to come around at night. Right?

    ( Some visuals to sort of get a feel for what it looks like roughly. I'd do illustrations if I were at home but alas, I am not. Warning, they are 'graphic'.

    The stuff is much darker and richer a orangey-red color, but similar in appearance all the same.

    Something odd has been spotted in the city today.

    A heart has been made on the cobblestone street. What makes it so abnormal, however, is what it is made of.

    Instead of something pleasant like flowers, or something simple like chalk, it is made of a seemingly living, organic material. It reeks of rancid flesh and possesses a soft and steady pulse. Beneath it, the stones have been dirtied by a dark, almost greasy looking substance, and appears to have 'rooted' itself into place, making use of the cracks and things that divide each stone.

    Placed at the center of this 'heart' shaped structure is a note on weathered scrap paper. It is a quote, and at the bottom of the scrap there is a small drawing of an ant's silhouette.

    The structure, stranger still, seems to come and go. One whom might wander by it will see it in it's glory, then see naught but a foul, oily stain the next time they pass.
