Question : Are the Crystal Shards assigned to a particular character’s energy and can therefor only be used by that particular character?
Answer- Nope! Whoever “holds” the Shard and knows the incantations/words of activation technically will be able to use the Mark of the Healer.
- It is not character specific!
Question : My character is a thief and would try to steal the Shards. Can the shards be stolen?
Answer- Yes! As these items are not player-specific, if your character is able to obtain a Crystal Shard, you will be able to be subject to the positive effects of the Wards, including “Crystal Defense” and “Sound the Alarm!”.
- However, if you don’t know the incantation/words of activation it’s just a cute crystal for you to own.
Question: My Character has a magical sensitivity and would
feel sick around any magic. Will my character feel sick if they hold this item or come in contact with it?
Answer- Until a character activates the wards, be it the magically sensitive character or another who possesses the Mark of the Healer, the crystals are effectively inert. Thus, they will have no impact on your magically sensitive character until the wards are activated and/or the actual magic comes into play.
- All of this was designed with magically sensitive characters in mind!
Question : What happens if my character loses their shard or has it stolen?
Answer- RP! Plot! Fun! Your character will probably receive a stern reprimand and a reissue of another shard. Losing the Shard does not negatively impact the entire magical field that is the overseer of this whole network of power.
Question : How much of this is “Common Knowledge”?
Answer- The only aspect of “Common Knowledge” that would carry through the community is the Red Crystal, itself. The incantations and all the details surrounding the installation, maintenance, and usage of these magical artifacts is specifically designed to be very limited.
- You can’t have the “enemy” knowing all your secrets!
Question : Can the Infirmary’s Main Crystal be Destroyed? Can my character retrieve it?
Answer- The Infirmary Main Crystal is to be considered embedded into the stone of the Infirmary, itself. The Infirmary Main Crystal cannot be destroyed if it cannot be reached. Consider the IMC to be designed specifically so it cannot be reached or destroyed.
- However, through Administrative Approval it is possible that the Crystal can be reached and/or removed and/or destroyed through the proper plot. It may serve no purpose, though, as we’d probably just create a new one and make it even harder to get to.
- Your plot is welcome!
Question : Can the Main Power Crystal be Destroyed? Can it be stolen?
Answer- Nope!
- Put under specific lock-and-key, guarded by the likes of the Bloodsworn who walk the Castle Grounds, NPC Castle Guards, and diligent staff employed by the City, the Main Power Crystal is not something that the common citizen will ever see.
- In fact, rumors may spread regarding lore that completely contradicts the facts of the Main Power Crystal, such as it being kept in a mirror, hidden in Sairon, or floating high above the City.
- Administrative Approval is required for this to be contradicted!
